Morning Light

I find myself praying for just one more night.
One more morning awakened by light.
For another day to watch the birds linger longer
To watch the years grace the face of my daughter.

I am in love with what’s steady and true,
Like watching the sky in the autumn blue.
Hearing a song composed purely of prayer
Touched by keys of soft notes in the air

By glass that holds what is free from disguise,
Creations untainted by plastic’s demise.
By a soft, hand painted work of art,
Where brushstrokes lay gently to capture my heart.

By the flaws in bare skin kissed by warm sun.
A story of living where time has begun.
By wheat growing wild in fields of gold
By honey from blossoms the bees have foretold.

Not far will we find what we need at our feet.
Dreams that our hearts have waited to seek
So we can fill our homes with laughter and song,
Where love will remain, and fear is gone.
